University Discipleship Training Schools

A DTS is a five month life-changing program designed to help you “know God and make Him known.” It is a time for you to seek God’s face, hear His voice and discover who God made you to be. Putting aside all the distractions of life, you can focus on God and His heart for the nations. It’s a time to step out of your comfort zone and give God your whole heart and your whole life. DTS will open your eyes to God’s heart for a hurting world and see Him use you to change it.

The Discipleship Training School (DTS) is a prerequisite for all other courses and is therefore the gateway into the seven Colleges/Faculties and various Centres of the University of the Nations. The DTS also serves to orient and prepare all new YWAM and U of N staff.

Seminars

The SMC Seminars are one-to-six week specialized training modules designed for both students and leaders. These intensives are designed to prepare and equip anyone with hope for a new kind of university ministry.

STU 195 Student Ministries Leadership Seminar

This intensive is designed for anyone desiring to be equipped for student ministries both on and off campus. Your interaction with the content and process in a small community of leaders and emerging leaders offers an opportunity to expand your vision for university ministries. You will be equipped to lead student outreaches to serve field projects, and connect to a broadened network of church and mission leaders to partner with YWAM programs worldwide.

The one-week Student Ministries Leadership seminar (STU 195) is an introductory training for leaders and emerging leaders to connect with resources and tools to develop short-term outreach partnerships, internships, and collaborative approaches in university ministries.

STU 191 Discipleship Seminar for University Students

The Discipleship Seminar for University Students and young adults is a one week intensive centering on the character of God and relationship with Him. This foundational teaching/learning seminar will help participants develop a deeper understanding of God through personal encounters with Him and others. The intended result will be joy to the heart of God, blessing to the life of the individual, and the outflow of that blessing to reach through the participants to the nations.

We were invited to run the seminar in Kenya in November 2006. We had 24 Kenyan students complete the course and a total of 40 attend through the week.

Facilitator and SMC international team member, Deonn McDowell writes, “Paradigms can shift so quickly when students are presented with the truth about God.”

STU 196 Vision Leadership Training Seminar

This seminar for university students is designed to help participants understand God’s calling and to prepare for their life work in the market place. The purpose of this training is to rebuild and restore the concept that a biblical worldview is a foundation stone of one’s lifework and participation in societal transformation. Students will develop skills for Christian leadership and world evangelization.

School of University Ministries & Missions

This 12-week intensive course will prepare you to connect with God’s heart for the university world. You will participate in practical research of the migration of students and learn how to equip them for effective witness in various areas of society (arts, business, education, government, media, science and technology). You will learn how to work together with others mobilizing the resources of the university toward fulfillment of the Great Commission as outlined in the Christian Magna Carta, communicating the gospel of the kingdom to and from the university community. Read more…
